Our New Ashford Home - by Ryan Homes

May 25, 2008 By: Bill Category: Buying Our Ryan Home No Comments →

Check out our new home. Well, not really - this is the model. But we did contract to have an “Ashford” built at the Ryan Homes development at Bayview Landing, just north of Ocean City and a bit west on Delaware Route 54. A portion of this blog may be devoted to our home-purchase experience with Ryan Homes, one of the premier builders on the Eastern Shore. We’ll may also describe how the mortgage process works with the builder-designated lender, NVR Mortgage Financing.

So, where are the photos of the model? CLICK Right Here!

The photos were taken at the model home on display in Lewes, Delaware at Ryan’s Henlopen Landing Development.

Looking for a New Home Timeline

May 25, 2008 By: Bill Category: Home Purchase Timeline No Comments →

  1. Started “looking” late last year - because a grandchild was on the way. Our “empty nest” was about to be visited with a larger family - and a one bed/one bath condo was no longer going to work.
  2. Our first grandchild, a granddaughter was born on New Year’s Day. We then decided to be more serious in our search for larger “home” at the beach.
  3. We realized we wound have to give up our Ocean City oceanfront view to get a larger place that would not strain the budget - so we began looking in the Caine Woods, Ocean City area. Our first condo was in Caine Woods and we liked the laid back atmosphere of the community.
  4. We actually found a couple of houses for sale in CAine Woods that had some appeal - but they were far enough from the beach that we would need a car to get to the sand. The Caine Woods community also had no association, or local, pool. So, we decided to look a “bit further” back from the beach.
  5. We found the Ryan Homes development of Bayview Landing that was promoting single family homes from the 290’s. WooHoo - right at the lower end of our budget and a good bit less than we knew we could get for our condo (even with the so-called depressed real estate market).

For the rest of the story see the “Purchasing a Ryan home Timeline” post(s). They will be updated as the process continues - from the initial purchase agreement to the final settlement - and then on to “moving in.”
